Not Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my chronic pain come back after chiropractic adjustments?
Chiropractors primarily work with hard tissues (bones), whereas massage therapists address soft tissues (muscles, fascia) that are responsible for holding bones in balance. Without treatment to their supportive soft tissue structures, bones go back to misalignment- signaling the return of chronic pain and movement dysfunction.
Can massage therapy prevent surgery?
In many cases, yes. Surgery is often the result of years of untreated muscle compensation patterns and poor posture. Massage can restore posture and introduce new muscular patterning into the nervous system by releasing overworked muscles and activating weak ones. When done in time, massage therapy is one of the leading surgical preventions.
Can massage offer me a long term solution to pain or is it only a quick fix?
At Olea, the choice is yours. Unlike places who offer a quick fix by simply massaging the sight of pain, we offer clinical methods such as postural assessment and manual muscle testing to identify muscular patterns of dysfunction. We treat the right muscles, so you leave walking taller and feeling better- and stay that way!
Why won't this knot come out?
Some knots are the result of an over worked muscle, while other knots are the result of a strained muscle. Working directly on a strained muscle may feel good in the moment, but it can damage tissue and worsen your knots overtime. Instead of insisting your therapist do “deep tissue,” why not allow your therapist to treat the actual problem area? You may be surprised to find that difficult knot vanishes without any use of direct pressure to it at all.
